A condominium or condo is a form of ownership of property (not the style of a structure) -- usually in a multi-unit dwelling - where portions of the property - such as hallways, entryways, etc are owned jointly - but the residential units are individually owned.

A condominium - condo - maybe a townhouse style, a single floor apartment, a villa, etc. And, you the owner do build equity as you would in a single family home as you make your monthly mortgage payment. Don't forget to include the cost of insurance and taxes in your calculations of your monthly payments.

There is always a condominium owners' association that assesses and collects a fee from each owner to pay for common ground maintenance, improvements and common property insurance. So be sure you understand all fee that are involved before closing on your condo.
